Leland Snow thought he could build a better crop duster. He did. Air Tractor, out of Olney, Texas, became the dominant force in agricultural aviation and then expanded into firefighting and light military applications. Still privately held, still building planes in Texas.

Heritage

Snow was an ag pilot first, an engineer second. He flew the aircraft he designed, and he designed them for the people who flew them. That pilot-first philosophy carried Air Tractor from a one-model startup to the world leader in purpose-built working aircraft. The AT-802 is the crown jewel, but every model in the lineup reflects the same thinking: build it strong, make it work, and don't add anything the pilot doesn't need.
