Republic built the heaviest, most powerful, and most survivable fighters of their eras. The P-47 Thunderbolt and F-105 Thunderchief were both beasts — massive aircraft that could take punishment and dish it out.
Heritage
Republic's philosophy was simple: build it big, build it powerful, build it tough. The P-47 Jug could absorb damage that would destroy other fighters. The F-105 carried more bombs than a WWII B-17.
