Ryan Aeronautical

USA Est. 1922 1969 (acquired by Teledyne)

A San Diego company that built mail planes and trainers, but earned immortality by building the most famous airplane in history: Charles Lindbergh's Spirit of St. Louis.

Heritage

Ryan Airlines started as a small operation flying passengers between San Diego and Los Angeles. When Lindbergh needed a plane for his transatlantic attempt, Ryan agreed to build a modified M-2 mail plane in just 60 days. That aircraft changed aviation forever. Ryan later produced the PT-22 trainer and pioneering jet aircraft.
