Sikorsky Aircraft

USA Est. 1923

The company that made the helicopter practical. Igor Sikorsky's VS-300 established the single main rotor configuration that defines most helicopters today. From presidential transport to combat search and rescue, Sikorsky helicopters have defined rotary-wing aviation.

Heritage

Igor Sikorsky was already famous for building the world's first four-engine aircraft in Russia before emigrating to America. His helicopter designs, starting with the VS-300 in 1939, created an entirely new category of aircraft. The S-55, S-58, S-61, and UH-60 Black Hawk represent a continuous line of innovation that shaped military and civilian rotorcraft worldwide.
